On the shores of the fossil sea The wine tree blows motionlessly With golden eyes she walks the halls And picks the fruit of the crystal walls The distant bone town all enclosed Green liquor memory flows When painting colors of chemical fire And loving him was her one desire Now from his book the voices sing Of red ocean mists and battling men Of metal insects, electric spiders And of her pining how he tires Now she sleeps, his sullen bride Like a boat on a soundless tide Drifting toward awakening Captain York, come back again Captain York, come back again Captain York, come back Come back Again

I’ve wrapped myself in a blanket of lies I’ve filled out a formal complaint made of cries Pulled down the shades and averted my eyes And purchased insurance against falling skies But I can’t escape from freedom I’ve joined every club and association That will allow me admittance within Then quit them because of the very sin Of laxity for letting one like me in But I can’t escape from freedom I’ve layered my look and I’ve looked at my layers And built walls of weaponry against naysayers And I can out play the playing-est players In Truth or Dare I’m the daring-est of darer But I can’t escape from freedom Freedom is falling With nothing to hold That’s where we’re all at In case you weren’t told Believing is clinging Though there’s nothing there Faith’s letting go And you have to, so there My masks they are many my walls they are thick Self-deception a-plenty and a very large stick For beating the demons that I think that I see In this house of mirrors I’ve built around me But I can’t escape from freedom

Climbing up Cold Mountain once again Through the crags and through the mist Gathering all the wisdom that I can Retrace my steps for any missed Cold Mountain it is cold Chills me right to the soul But I’ve lived here many a year And it’s here I shall grow old Climbing up Cold Mountain once again Through the crags and through the mist Gathering all the wisdom that I can Retrace my steps for any missed Cold Mountain it is cold Chills me right to the soul But I’ve lived here many a year And it’s here I shall grow old

A grey breeze causes leaf children to dance In the mediocre spring pudding eve The march of time paused on a chance circumstance As I feel my senses take leave Through the open window paratrooper dandelion A daydream casually floats Looks down on my coffee on its way to my book Where I’ll surround it with a ring of singing notes A moistness in my eye persuading me to laugh or cry I want to jump and shout just like a jagged tide For how long God only knows my wires stood exposed I was blind but his grace restored my sight Now I’m dancing once again with strange angels in the wind Lightning from my pen a storm front heart I praise you for this gift Holy Spirit give me lift Jesus from my presence don’t depart Jesus from my presence don’t depart Jesus from my presence don’t depart

Mr. Ken Graham, At just 25, Is guilty and will get 15 to life. His victims were street kids And internet users Who naively trusted Their future abuser. Chorus: How can we Allow this to be; These crimes against life And humanity? They’re treated like meat And they’re treated like pawns. The slave trade still carries on. Young people drawn in By false affections; They’re used and abused, Who once were neglected. They buy into hatred That’s packaged as love And sold at a price. Enough is enough. Chorus Mr. Ken Graham Is a most vile man, But there’s so many more I hope you understand. They prey on the innocent, Outcast and forgotten. It’s the slavery of daughters And sons that they’re plotting. Chorus 2: How can we Allow this to be; These crimes against life And humanity? They’re treated like meat And they’re treated like pawns. Let’s not let this slave trade go on.

Icy River 02:39
Icy river makes me shiver Coming down the mountain path Eddies tickle as they trickle While my fingers scoop and splash Icy water, you're the daughter Of the snow-capped mountain peak Please impart from your wise heart Gurgling, laughing, as you speak All your wisdom, flowing winsome Heading toward the salty sea Overflowing love and then some Show me what it means to be

You There! 03:50
Who is that, hiding out behind each rock? Who is that, watching my every thought? But when I try to find, I get into a double bind. Seems the one who looks, can never be the one looked at. I am that, I am that, I am that, I am that. Who are you, hiding out behind each thought? Who are you? Eternity is all you’ve got. But when you try to find, you get into a double bind. What’s looking out through you is looking out through me, too. You are that, you are that, you are that, you are that. We are that, we are that, we are that, we are that.

We Got We 02:53
She’s a desert flower raised on the plains Nobody warned her ‘bout the coastal rains But she’s adapted, and rain or shine She grows in beauty with passing time Chorus: The train of time keeps rolling on, dawn till dusk and dusk till dawn But who needs the scenery, ‘cause baby we got we Verse 2: So let the rains fall let the train tracks rust Let the winds blow away the dust She’ll stay rooted wherever she may be In her faith and her family Chorus Verse 2 Chorus Ending: The train of time keeps rolling on, dawn till dusk and dusk till dawn But who needs the scenery, ‘cause baby we got Who needs the scenery, ‘cause baby we got Who needs the scenery, ‘cause baby we got we

On a magic sailboat we go rolling thru the sky On a river made of tears that flows from the moon’s eye Waving to the sky birds as they swim up the stream I know the moon is happy because I can see it beam They’re tears of joy (they’re tears of joy) I feel the vibrant colors in the petals of the flowers And I ask they share the secrets of their special powers They just laugh and the melody of their laughter is love The wind-chime syllables go soaring high above Out into space (with such grace) Night’s curtain is falling down No one even makes a sound Backstage the masks come off In the audience a raven coughs When the second act begins No one knows the name of sin An owl hoots and the lights come up Overflowing is the cup of love Back-lit by a Holy Presence the stain glass world just glows We are known by the One Awareness that nobody knows Call it by a million names and yet none suffice Morning comes and evening goes the sun doth fall and rise We are loved (we are love) Now to let the ballast go from this thought balloon Before things get to heavy I know they can so soon Harmless seas of harmonies to the rhythm of the waves We must be innocent as snakes and as wise as babes And we are (in our hearts)

You say you’re sick and tired of a world you didn’t ask for And you wonder what everyone thinks they have to wear a mask for Well they’re hurting too that much is true I know at least a little bit of what you're going thru It may not show all the time but I was young once too Sometimes things get better sometimes they don’t I believe they will for you but meantime It’s alright to cry child it’s alright to ball your eyes out It’s alright to go wild and to scream and shout Don’t let the pressure build Until you’re lost your will It’s alright to cry child it’s alright to be sad It’s alright to cry child it’s alright to ball your eyes out It’s alright to go wild and to scream and shout I pray that once in a while You find a reason to smile But it’s alright to cry child it’s alright to be sad

William Cowper, go away And haunt me no longer William Cowper, day by day Your powers get stronger Am I the singer of the song Or the singing of the songer? There are demons in the night Hungry and thirsty I’m not feeling quite alright William Cowper has cursed me And I do not know what could Any fate that’s worse be Predestination and freewill Fighting in my skull My mind is a ghost ship And something’s bashed the hull William Cowper’s at the wheel All my colors have turned dull William Cowper, go away! William Cowper, go away! William Cowper, go away! William Cowper, go away!

A bird flew in my open window ‘Twas a robin, red of breast He cocked his head, looked at me sideways As he lighted on my desk I felt that he’d come with a message I could not guess what it might be But then he turned back toward the window And he took his leave of me As he dissolved into the foliage Of the early spring treetops I heard him sing his parting postlude And my heart did nearly stop Rolling crests and plunging valleys His melody was like the tide Majestic as a mighty ocean Cozy as a fireside You are flying in the azure You are singing with the clouds All you have to do is notice So raise your face and sing out loud The fear of dying makes you notice The joy of living everyday Pain and trouble is a rainstorm Your hearts a flower, come what May The beauty that you see around you Is the beauty that’s within Thoughts and fences cannot bound you Like the robin you can sing

about

The "you" in the mirror is not the eternal "you."
The "you" that can be named is the "you" of the name tag;
Not the true you.
The nameless is the origin of up & down--black & white--inside out.
What's in a name? the perceived you-nee-verse.
What's without a name? The you-nee-verse unperceived.

The songs here are glimpses of the me unperceived, reflected in shards of melody, lit by harmony, held aloft by rhythm. If you stand with me as I sing them, you may see a reflection of your own you-nee-verse unperceived, too.

So lend me your ear & I will return it full to overflowing. & if music be the food of love then feed your love well. There's plenty to go around! & nobody wants an undernourished love, n'est–ce pas?
