about

This album has been by far the most fun and the easiest album for me to record! Aside from the fact that they're all a bunch of silly (and profound) kid songs, the songs were all recorded live, so all I did was hit record while I was playing at different events and then upload the results. I don't think that this will be the last live kids music album that I do. So, I hope that you enjoy it, and, be prepared for more like this in the future! ;)

Track Name: I Wanna Be a Dog (Barry Louis Polisar)
Oh I wanna be a dog,
I wanna wag my tail.
Chase cars, and knock over garbage cans,
Bite the lady that brings me the mail.

Chorus:
Oh I wanna have dog breath.
I wanna learn to growl,
Scratch fleas and ticks, and run after sticks.
The moon’s gonna make me howl.

Oh I wanna be a dog,
I wanna dig big holes.
I wanna chase French poodles and basset hounds,
And look for telephone poles.
Chorus

Oh I wanna be a dog.
I wanna big wet nose.
I wanna run on the street, get mud on my feet,
And put them all over your clothes.
Chorus

Oh I wanna be a dog.
I wanna lie around.
Being human these days is getting a little crazy.
I just want to be a hound.
Being human these days is getting a little crazy.
I just want to be a hound.

Track Name: All God's Critters (Bill Staines)
Chorus:
All God's critters got a place in the choir
Some sing low, some sing higher,
Some sing out loud on the telephone wires,
And some just clap their hands, or paws, or anything they
got now

Listen to the bass, it's the one on the bottom
Where the bullfrog croaks and the hippopotamus
Moans and groans with a big t'do
And the old cow just goes moo.
Chorus

The dogs and the cats they take up the middle
While the honeybee hums and the cricket fiddles,
The donkey brays and the pony neighs
And the old coyote howls.
Chorus

Listen to the top where the little birds sing
On the melodies with the high notes ringing,
The hoot owl hollers over everything
And the jaybird disagrees.
Chorus

Singin' in the night time, singing in the day,
The little duck quacks, then he's on his way.
The 'possum ain't got much to say
And the porcupine talks to himself.
Chorus

It's a simple song of living sung everywhere
By the ox and the fox and the grizzly gear,
The grumpy alligator the the hawk above,
The sly raccoon and the turtle dove.
Chorus

Track Name: Car Song (Woody Guthrie)
("car sounds")

Chorus:
Take me riding in the car, car;
Take me riding in the car, car;
I'll Take you riding in the car, car;
I'll take you riding in the car.

Click clack, open up the door, girls;
Click clack, open up the door, boys;
Front door, back door, clickety clack,
Take you riding in my car.

Climb, climb, rattle on the front seat;
Spree I spraddle on the backseat;
Turn my key, step on the starter,
Take you riding in my car.

Engine it goes bbb, bbb;
Engine it goes bbm, bbb;
Engine it goes bbb, bbb;
I'll take you riding in my car.

("car sounds")

I'll take you riding in my car.

I'm a gonna let You blow the horn;
I'm a gonna let you blow the horn;
A oorah, oowah,
I'll take you riding in my car.

Track Name: Going to the Zoo (Tom Paxton)
Daddy’s taking us to the zoo tomorrow,
Zoo tomorrow, zoo tomorrow;
Daddy’s taking us to the zoo tomorrow,
And we can stay all day.

CHORUS:
We’re going to the zoo, zoo, zoo;
How about you, you, you?
You can come too, too, too.
We’re going to the zoo, zoo, zoo.

See the elephant with the long trunk swinging,
Great big ears and long trunk swinging,
Snuffing up the peanuts with a long trunk swinging;
And we can stay all day.
Chorus

See all the monkeys a scritch scritch scratchin’,
Jumping around and a scritch scritch scratchin’,
Hangin’ by their long tails scritch scritch scratchin’;
And we can stay all day.
Chorus

There’s a big black bear he’s a huff huff huffin’,
Coat’s too heavy he’s a huff huff huffin’,
Don’t get too near the huff huff huffin’;
Or you won’t stay all day.
Chorus

Well the seals in the pool all honk honk honkin’,
They’re catchin’ the fish and honk honk honkin’,
The little seals all honk honk honkin’;
And we can stay all day.
Chorus

Well we’ve stayed all day, I’m gettin’ sleepy,
Sittin’ in the car gettin’ sleep, sleep, sleepy,
Home already and I’m sleep sleep sleepy;
‘Cause we have stayed all day.

Chorus 2:
We’ve been to the zoo, zoo, zoo;
So have you, you, you.
You came too, too, too,
We’ve been to the zoo, zoo, zoo.

But...

Mama’s taking us to the zoo tomorrow,
zoo tomorrow, zoo tomorrow;
Mama’s taking us to the zoo tomorrow,
and we can stay all day!

Track Name: The Butterfly Song (Brian Howard)
If I was a butterfly,
I’d thank You, Lord, for giving me wings,
And if I was a robin in a tree,
I’d thank You, Lord, that I could sing,
And if I was a fish in the sea,
I’d wiggle my tail and I’d giggle with glee,
But I just thank You, Father, for making me "me."

Chorus:
'Cause You gave me a heart and You gave me a smile,
You gave me Lord Jesus and You made me Your child,
And I just than You, Father, for making “me.”

If I were a squiggly worm,
I’d thank you Lord that I could squirm.
If I were a fuzzy wuzzy bear,
I’d thank you Lord for my fuzzy wuzzy hair,
And if I were an elephant,
I’d thank you Lord by raising my trunk,
But I just thank you Father for making me "me."
Chorus

Verse 3:
If I were an octopus,
I’d thank you Lord for my good looks,
And if I were a kangaroo,
I’d hop hop hop right up to you,
And if I were a crocodile,
I’d thank you Lord for my fine smile,
But I just thank you Father for making me "me."
Chorus

Track Name: The Garden Song (A bug flew in my mouth!) (David Mallett)
Chorus:
Inch by inch, row by row, gonna make this garden grow;
Gonna mulch it deep and low, gonna make it fertile ground.
Inch by inch, row by row, please bless these seeds I sow;
Please keep them safe below ‘till the rains come tumblin' down.

Pulling weeds, picking stones, we are made of dreams and bones;
Need a place to call my own, for the time is near at hand.
Grain for grain, sun and rain, find my way in nature’s chain;
Tune my body and my brain to the music of the land.
Chorus

Plan your rows straight and long, temper them with prayer and song;
Mother earth will make you strong if you give her love and care.
^This is the part where the insect entered my oral cavity ;p ^
An old crow watching from a tree, got his hungry eye on me
In my garden I’m as free as that feathered thief up there

Track Name: Doo-Doo-Doo-Dum (Lance Eads)
Chorus:
Doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-dum,
Doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-dum,
Doo-doo-doo-dum,
Doo-doo-doo-dum,
Doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-dum.

I don't wanna eat my greens;
I don't wanna eat my greens:
I can get my vitamins
From eatin' jellybeans!
I don't wanna eat my greens.

I don't wanna take a bath;
I don't wanna take a bath:
I been workin' on this tan o' mine
And this mud suits me just fine!
I don't wanna take a bath.
Chorus

I don't wanna brush my teeth;
I don't wanna brush my teeth:
If my teeth get too bright
They keep me up at night!
I don't wanna brush my teeth.

I don't wanna go to bed;
I don't wanna go to bed:
I won't miss my shut-eye much;
I'll just blink twice as much!
I don't wanna go to bed.

Track Name: There Ain't No Bugs on Me (Traditional)
Chorus:
Oh, there ain't no bugs on me,
There ain't no bugs on me .
There may be bugs on some of you mugs,
But there ain't no bugs on me.

Well, the Juney bug comes in the month of June.
The lightning bug comes in May.
The bed bug comes just any old time,
But, they're not going to stay.
Chorus

Well, a bull frog sittin' on a lily pad
Looking up at the sky.
The lily pad broke and the frog fell in,
He got water all in his eyeball.
chorus

Mosquito he fly high;
Mosquito he fly low.
If old mosquito lands on me,
He ain't a gonna fly no more.
chorus

A peanut sittin' on a railroad track,
His heart was all a-flutter.
Along come a choo-choo on the track:
Toot! Toot! Peanut butter!
chorus

Well, little bugs have littler bugs
Upon their backs to bite 'em.
And the littler bugs have still littler bugs.
And so ad infinitum.
chorus

As I went walkin' through the woods,
Humming a tune so gaily,
The wind came whistling through the trees
And froze my ukelele.
chorus

Oh there ain't no flies on me,
No, there ain't no flies on me,
There may be flies on some of you guys,
But there ain't no flies on me.

Oh there ain't no lobsters on me,
No, there ain't no lobsters on me,
There may be some lobsters on some of you mobsters,
But there ain't no lobsters on me.

Oh it ain't gonna rain no more no more,
No, It ain't gonna rain no more,
How in the heck can I wash my neck
When it ain't gonna rain no more?
Chorus
