Verse 1: Woke up this morning & the sky was grey Opened the blinds anyway The weak sunlight filtered thru Grey mornings make me feel blue Chorus: I'll be feeling orange soon thanks to you As sure as oil cures a squeaky door hinge Pretty soon I'll be feeling orange I'll be feeling orange soon thanks to you Verse 2: The grass is green & the water clear Horizon's far & my feet are near 1,000 steps begins with one Let's walk together toward the setting sun Chorus

Verse: As we’re floating together in this place As we’re falling forever thru this space I tell you believing is clinging Though there’s nothing we can hold onto Belief is clinging, that is true But faith, I’ll have you know Is letting go Pre-Chorus I: Change is synonymous with reality Nothing stays the same as far as we can see Everything’s in motion, the rocks, the trees Even the things that make up you and me Are changing constantly Chorus: (Turn some pages in the Book of Changes) Book of Changes (Turn some pages in the Book of Changes) Book of Changes Repeat Verse Pre-Chorus II: Put your faith in change, it is the solid rock Dogma & philosophy are idle talk The universe is change alone & so are we For after all, the world is only you & me Changing eternally Chorus
3.
Verse 1: You say hi & I say hello You say how are you? & I say I don't know Some days are better & some days are worse I'm beleaguered and plagued but I'm outrunning the curse Chorus: My glass is half full but it's about to get fuller My outlook is shiny but it used to be duller Two steps forward & one step back I'm grateful each time I don't step on a crack Verse 2: You ask me why & I say because It is what it is & it does what it does The world has its ways, it’s the ways of the world My path is laid straight, but my bacon is curled Chorus Bridge: I said oh, oh, oh; I said no, no, no I said yeah, yeah, yeah; I said maybe so Chorus

It was a windy morning When the Ferris wheel broke loose Bounced twice before it Hitched a ride on a south going caboose Said, “Fare thee well, See thee anon” on orthogonal railroad tracks “I’ve had enough of the carnival & I ain’t never… coming back” The ice cream store has closed its doors & turned the heat up high “If I can’t have you no one can” The confectioner he cried To the melting dairy treats & who knows which is worse To be eaten or be over heatin’ As they get their… just desserts Thursday’s trash has crashed upon The shoreline of the street The sidewalk’s lined with empty wine & stuff no one wants to eat As I walk barefooted through the Tide of yesterday Discarding all the broken thoughts I never… got to say I see you through the picture window Waiting for your turn to come To have your hair restyled To just wear it in a bun I wait for you to see me But you never turn your head So I walk into a store-brand Future… instead

Ball of Mud 03:44
Religions & societies Made up human boundaries Strip away the overlays & everything is a-ok Chorus: Though we’re riding on a flying ball of mud Hurtling through space, everything is mostly good Good, bad or indifferent What seems important sometimes isn’t Take another spin on the flying ball of mud Enjoy your ride on the flying ball of mud The sun is a star, & you, son, are a star The daughter of the water, Universe is what we are Children with a gilding of skin on sapphire It’s well known we are gemstones, that is what we are Chorus
6.
Verse 1: I’ve been bad & I’ve been good, the outcast of the neighborhood I bought the Kool-Aid, drank it down, then faced myself & turned around I read the tea leaves, Portuguese, & smelling roses makes me sneeze But now I’m on the road, the hill gets closer, though I’m standing still Chorus: 'Cuz enough is never too much, so buckle up & drop the clutch I said that enough is never too much; it’s touch & go then go and touch Verse 2: When I get to Shangri-la tell your ma, and tell your pa Send you back to Arkansas, but don’t you tell them what you saw Lazy nights & lazy days, dip your toes in mayonnaise But don’t mistake for carrot sticks--regeneration’s quite the trick Chorus Verse 3: Parsnips at the parson’s house, the church bell’s quiet as a mouse But if that mouse does ring the bell, be certain it will raise some hell I’ve been good & I’ve been bad, the neighborhood was all I had I spilled the Kool-Aid, turned around and painted faces on the clowns Chorus
7.
Chorus: It’s burning a hole In the pocket of your heart So give it away That is how we start & as it multiplies The tides will rise When we each do our part Verse 1: Like Lazarus at the rich man’s gate We all need love before it’s too late It’s not a matter of who deserves it Every person’s worth it Chorus Verse 2: Nobody asks to be poor Or to be left outside that door Nobody asks to be other Love your sister, love your brother Chorus Bridge: Save us from weak resignation In the evils we decry Disregard status & station Let dignity reign far & wide Chorus
8.
The firefly says, "Why can’t I Shine my light on me? I glowingly illuminate Everything I see. People, trees, dogs & bees Are illumined by my presence. Of all the things that are near to here, I’m the only thing that isn’t." The firefly’s got it right She shines her light at night As during the day the sun From dawn till day is done As you & I shine clear Our awareness on all near But like the firefly I can never shine on I

Verse 1: It's dark outside & the traffic light Refracts in the rain-streaked glass That reflects despair. Well, I've paid my fare but it just ain't fair That this bus ain't slowing, don't know where it's going, No stops anywhere. Chorus: Cause the rain won't stop & I just want off Of this midnight ride, Cause I just can't stand to be alone again, I need you by my side To shed some light, make everything alright, On this midnight ride. Verse 2: I lost my cool & you lost your patience. I was a fool & I haven't seen you since, & there's a vacant seat where you used to be. In the rearview is the woman who Once sat by me. Chorus
10.
In the forest there’s a creek That winds down from the mountain peak He flows & goes, his path is chosen In the winter He is frozen But anytime of any season The stream meanders for secret reasons And here & there along his bank An eddy forms & gives his thanks To the mountain She's his guide Cradling him on either side The mountain stands for eons strong The eddy bubbles & is gone Singing of the mountain Singing of the mountain Singing of the mountain Ooh, ooh

Part I: A nostalgia act, for amnesiacs Playing empty shows No audience, but the ambience And acoustics were, you know? Part II: So I tried a new tact, changed my hair and my act Wrote some new songs & now here I go But is it still me that you all came to see? & who answers that, I'd like to know Part III: Some say that everything changes Time pushes on, space rearranges But I’d like to think that somewhere within There’s someone who is still the same person Part I (reprise)

Sailing thru the failing solar winds Return to the beginning once again Spacetime evaporating Heat death is awaiting Our cargo shall determine how this ends An alloy we’ve invented seems able To hold matter-energy & keep it stable But the elements we need Are rare and out of reach So we take this hero’s journey, like a fable In our vessel is a vessel made the same The smaller vessel holds our claim to fame It’s a piece of universe Uncorrupted by the worst Of what makes everything around us be the same We must throw it in a black hole or die trying Either way we’ll probably end up dying But if we toss it in The theory is that then It’s the end of everything we’ll be defying A tiny dense nugget of existence Hurling through the void with such insistence Until it lands and it expands With a big but silent bang & everything begins again with life’s persistence

about

"Fire at the foot of the mountain.
The image of grace.
The True Self settles current affairs thusly,
Yet is mindful of what is fragile."
