Oblivious
03:19
|
|||
Dendritic trees tickle sky
Where nervous birds electric fly
Convey the universal will
To the cat upon the windowsill
Mottled blue and grey and white
Turn black and purple with the night
The moon above an opening
To the light that’s streaming in
Pull my coat tight, oblivious
As I await the city bus
Check my pocket for the fare
A cold wind blows thru me there
Outside where squirrels and ravens once
Fought for food on daily hunts
The streets and phone lines quiet lie
Wait for winter to pass by
Shut my door, oblivious
Outside the dawn is tinged with rust
I fold my arms standing there
At the window I just stand and stare
Every moment is a work of art. Everything around us plays a part
Sometimes I look and I notice. Most times I’m just oblivious
Dendritic trees tickle sky
Where nervous birds electric fly
Convey the universal will
To the cat upon the windowsill
Mottled blue and grey and white
Turn black and purple with the night
The moon above an opening
To the light that’s streaming in

Cosmic Rhythm
02:33
|
|||
God is the boundless ocean
"I" am a rippling wave
The crest is the life I’ve chosen
The trough is both womb and grave
My time in this form I take
Is brief but does not stand alone
I’ll reach for the sky
In the blink of an eye
Until I am called back home
I must learn to live in peace
And in harmony with the sea
The rushing tide doesn’t cease
It’s an endless melody
I’ll find joy in all that is
And won’t worry about what isn’t
For now that I see
That the ocean is me
I can dance with the cosmic rhythm
I must learn to live in peace
And in harmony with the sea
The rushing tide doesn’t cease
It’s an endless melody
I’ll find joy in all that is
And won’t worry about what isn’t
For now that I see
That the ocean is me
I can dance with the cosmic rhythm
For now that I see
That the ocean is me
I can dance with the cosmic rhythm
For now that I see
That the ocean is me
I can dance with the cosmic rhythm

The Unseen Garden
04:23
|
|||
The universe is a flower
Blooming in the unseen garden
From the budding of the big bang
To her slow decay and parting
On a hedgerow of universes
And this realization is just starting
A trillion other universes
Have flowered and have faded in the dirt
And trillion more will blossom
We are neither last nor are we first
Underneath an unseen sun
And the nourishing of hidden cloud bursts
And who is the gardener
And does the gardener have a name?
Does the gardener have a family--
Do we and the gardener look the same?
Is the universe of the gardener
Just another flower in a chain?
We can't see to our own stem
All we can do is speculate
But it seems certain that we're here together
So isn't it useless to hate
As we await the falling petals
That will accompany our mutual fate?
The universe is a flower
Blooming in the unseen garden
From the budding of the big bang
To her slow decay and parting
On a hedgerow of universes
And this realization is just starting

Family Diner
02:55
|
|||
Hot biscuits
I like them under gravy
Eggs and sausage maybe
I haven’t had them lately
Breakfast is the most important meal
Add juice and toast you can get a real good deal
At the Family Diner
Nothing could be finer
The jelly is sublime there
2 eggs for $3.99 or
Maybe you just want a bowl of cereal
Something light and healthy to make your stomach full
At the family diner
Yeah they serve wine there
You got your choice of beer
If we go for dinner
Lunch would be okay a sandwich and a cup
Of the soup of the day, let’s hurry up
To the family diner
To the family diner
To the family diner
To the family diner

Shaman Song
03:59
|
|||
I saw the tree of life
Growing on the shore
Of the cosmic ocean
I did not think twice
Though I know it sounds
Like a crazy notion
I picked the fruit of it
There at the root of it
My eternal fate was
set in motion
I drank the chalice
Which the angel handed me
At the midnight crossroads
I Cannot describe the bliss
That one sip of that nectar
On one does bestow
This is the only time
I will not try to rhyme
I wish I would have drank
The whole thing down
and gotten drunk
These visions come to me
As my shaman music
Pierces through the veil
Ecstatic reverie
Busting skyward from
An underground river
Through this well
I sing of them to you
What else can I do?
Maybe they will edify you,
Who can tell?
Who can tell?
Who can tell?

Ooh-ooh, Uh-huh
02:12
|
|||
I stood at the edge of my mind
Looking down into its depths
I remembered all the things
That part of me never forgets
And as the storm clouds gathered
The lightning lit them up
I leaned into the wind
I couldn’t get enough
Ooh-ooh, uh-huh
The rain that fell that day
Was a deluge for sure
But once the darkness went away
Everything was pure
The freshness of
A clean and shining soul
A lush and verdant valley
I was wholly whole
Ooh-ooh, uh-huh
Ooh-ooh, uh-huh

The suburban existentialist
Wonders what in the world is meant by this
Everybody walled off in their
2 ½ bath interiors
"Can they hear the birds are singing
Above the sound of their cell phones ringing?"
The suburban existentialist asks
The suburban existentialist
Leaves on a trip for Southern Where-Is-This
He leaves behind his neighbor’s stereo
At least nowhere is somewhere he can go
And hear the sound of the birds singing
Collect the seashells that the tide is bringing in
That’s the suburban existentialist’s task
That's all the suburban existentialist asks

Purple Flower
03:22
|
|||
I saw a purple flower;
I left her where she was.
I asked why she was beautiful
And she replied, "Because
The beauty that one sees
Is in the eye that looks.
You turn the muddy rivulets
Into laughing brooks."
I thanked the purple flower
For the wisdom she had shared;
That beauty's all around us--
We can see it everywhere.
If we open up our hearts
And open up our eyes
We'll see the beauty all around.
Beauty lives inside.
I saw a rusty wire
Lying on the ground
I asked the wire why oh why
Are you hanging ‘round
The wire said “It’s in your head:
The evil that you dread
You’re so hung up on fixing things
Fix yourself instead
I thanked the rusty wire
And now I know what’s true
Good and evil, black and white
Are inside me and you
If we water the flowers
And put things in their place
We can make things beautiful
For the human race

Scenic Highway
03:10
|
|||
When we started this thing we agreed
To pack up and only take what we need
And take a little road trip, you and me
Down the scenic highway to eternity
The scenic highway to eternity
I haven’t regretted it a single day
We’ve picked up some passengers along the way
That’s alright; I think these kids are ok
Down the scenic highway to eternity
The scenic highway to eternity
Though there’ve been potholes and stormy weather
Those just add to the adventure
And no one asks, “When will we get there?”
Because the trip just keeps getting better
And we’ll drop off our trip mates under fading skies
Our journey rolls on; it’ll be you and I
Life is the road; love is the car we drive
Down the scenic highway to eternity
The scenic highway to eternity

I'm gonna tell all you fascists, and you may be surprised:
The people in this world are getting organized.
You're bound to lose, you fascists, bound to lose.
Chorus:
All you fascists bound to lose!
All you fascists bound to lose!
All you fascists bound to lose!
You're bound to lose! You fascists, bound to lose!
Verse 2:
There's people of every nation, marching side by side.
Marching 'cross these fields where a million fascists died.
You're bound to lose, you fascists, bound to lose.
Chorus
Verse 3:
Race hatred cannot stop us. This one thing I know.
Institutionalized racism has just got to go
You're bound to lose, you fascists, bound to lose.
Chorus 2x’s

Every Leaf
04:07
|
|||
Every leaf upon the tree
If that leaf had eyes to see
From where it sways upon the wind
That leaf could hardly understand
The perspective of another
Leaf whose view is wholly other
So the leaves hang in the breeze
Each one seeing what it sees
So you and I within our stations
Cultures, religions, families, nations
Might find our vision incomplete
In regards to those we meet
But what we need is understanding
What we need is room to be
Conformity is too demanding
You be you and I'll be me
For every leaf upon the tree
Adds to the beauty that we see
As they sway upon the wind
It's much better to be friends
For we're all in this together
And we can ride the stormy weather
One great family branching out
Rooted firmly in the ground
The ground is true humanity
That feeds our lovely family tree
And the storms that roughly blow
They can help us grow also
So every leaf upon the tree
I'll help you and you help me
Accepting one another's hues
Respecting one another's views

Be Thou My Vision
03:02
|
|||
Be Thou my Vision, O Lord of my heart
Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art
Thou my best Thought, by day or by night
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light
Be Thou my Wisdom, and Thou my true Word
I ever with Thee and Thou with me, Lord
Thou my great Father, I Thy true son
Thou in me dwelling, and I with Thee one
Riches I heed not, nor man’s empty praise
Thou mine Inheritance, now and always
Thou and Thou only, first in my heart
High King of Heaven, my Treasure Thou art
High King of Heaven, my victory won
May I reach Heaven’s joys, O bright Heav’n’s Sun
Heart of my own heart, whate’er befall
Still be my Vision, O Ruler of all
