About a Tree 02:07
Do you ever think about a tree; How every leaf and branch you see Is different from every other? Does it ever make you wonder, “What does it take to be a perfect tree?” Do you ever think about you and me; In some ways as different as can be? From our heads down to our toes, Who’s better and who knows? Is there a perfect way for us to be? Each tree is perfect as it is, My little goats, we are all just perfect kids! We are just as we are! Just be you, ‘cause you’re a star! We are each given our own gifts

Time to Care 02:30
No more wall, no more fences No more mistreating the defenseless No more bombing, no more wars Sending hate to other shores Chorus: No excuses, time to care Put down our sticks and learn to share The planet earth is very small If we get along there’s room for all No more judgment, no more fear Of people who live far or near For being different in appearance How they think, with whom they dance Chorus

It was another rainy day A sky in tints & shades of grey I was standing at the window Watching the eastern wind blow I was sipping coffee from a cup Then I lifted my eyes up I saw the separate drops of rain That streaked my window pane And each droplet had a path As they meandered down the glass They each journeyed alone As they voyaged and they roamed But soon I became aware That the droplets here and there They’d intersect and join together As I stood and watched the weather I saw drops in pairs or alone Were heading to one home One rippling puddle sea Where each bead would finally be And as I took another drink Of my coffee I did think How these drops I could see Were something like you and me We come from a cloudy source And as we live our plotted course Sometimes we’re all alone Sometimes there’s company on the road We are each unique and yet I would place my bet Deep down we’re all the same Just like these tears of rain And when our sojourn’s done And our winding trail is run We’ll join together in a sea Of love and blissful glee

Day becomes night When the hate takes over Might doesn’t make right Keep watching over your shoulder Chorus: Guns don’t kill, people do But with a gun he’ll kill more than a few We need gun control, for our nation’s soul Don’t put that tool in the hands of a fool ‘Cause when the bullets scream The people scream louder There’s no reason we need That much fire power Chorus Let’s tone down the rhetoric That makes the time bombs tick Love is stronger than fear Hold your loved ones near Let’s tone down the rhetoric That makes the time bombs tick Love is stronger than fear Hold your loved ones near

Lying back in a pick-up bed Watching the falling stars overhead Wondering why they don’t all fall And how the universe holds us all In place Yeah, I know about Albert Einstein And all that stuff concerning space-time I guess I’m not really asking how As much as why and the answer I’ve found Is grace Sing Hosanna from a fallen world Sing Hosanna from a fallen world Sing Hosanna from a fallen world Sing Hosanna from a fallen world The mountains at night heavy with shadow Trees like dervishes when the wind blows Are they just bending with the flowing wind? Or are they dancing with a joy within Called love? Or maybe the wind is dancing too If I dance, then how about you? I don’t want to be the only loon Dancing beneath with the shining moon Above Sing Hosanna from a fallen world Sing Hosanna from a fallen world Sing Hosanna from a fallen world Sing Hosanna from a fallen world

about

In a sense, this album is "A Songwriter's Nursery" part 2. "About a Tree" and "Sing Hosanna from a Fallen World" were both originally going to be on that first album, but they weren't finished in time. "Time to Care," "The Parable of the Raindrop," and "Bloody August Weekend" are all new songs.

The instrumentation on this album is much more pared down than on "A Songwriter's Nursery"--just acoustic guitar and vocals. I hope you enjoy the songs here on "Universal, Remote." Bon Appetit!
